This week's excuse for a late post is pretty good...my local MLB team, the Kansas City Royals, made the postseason for the first time in 29 years. Its more than a bit distracting at the moment - and they are winning so far, and had a weird but awesome game to start it all off. I thought about skipping the post at this point, but it's the debut of Star Wars Rebels tonight, and as you may have guessed, I am already a big fan of the show. So here are another quick few items that I would have normally expanded on.
Fantasy Flight released the fourth Force and Destiny Beta RPG update.
I finished Star Wars: A New Dawn, the prequel novel for Rebels, by John Jackson Miller, one of my co-authors on the Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide. I really enjoyed it. I followed up by watching the Rebels premier via the WatchDisneyXD app on my tablet, which they released early for those who subscribe to DisneyXD via a cable company. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Getting the app to work on my network was dead simple. Getting the app to allow me to use miracast to throw it on to my big screen TV was not. Actually, miracast refused to work at all the tablet. It did work on my smart phone, but the app refused to run the video when connected.
Turns out it was a good thing I went ahead. I won't watch it live, because the Royals are playing game 2 of the ALDS* tonight. So, I'll be DVRing Rebels to watch it at its proper format and sound. Despite my wife's objections, I'll keep it on the DVR until some sort of physical media is available. Just never know when I'll need new or verify source material for whatever future writing assignment comes along. That is not a hint, but I did the same thing with The Clone Wars and it turned out to be very useful for Lords of Nal Hutta, among other things.
Speaking of The Clone Wars, one of the things I would've talked more about this week was the new material just released on starwars.com, especially the story reels with the proper sound but early stage animation. I'll try to come back to that in the future, as I haven't had a chance to watch it all yet.
Oh, and they've already ordered a second season for Rebels. Cool.
And I'll finish off with another plug for The Last Parsec Savage Worlds RPG setting Kickstarter. It is going very well, and just recently unlocked the stretch goal for my adventure, Pranac Pursuit. PEG posted a brief description on their G+ page. hose who like sci-fi RPGs, and especially if you liked the old Star Frontiers RPG, The Last Parsec should be right up your alley.
*American League Division Series for those who don't speak MLB, er, Major League Baseball.
