While we have certainly had periods of high Star Wars activity and announcements over the years, this past couple of weeks seems like a new high water mark. New TV and streaming shows, a new preview for the new movie, and a brand new theme park is already expanded with an even more immersive experience.
It all looks like fun.
Episode 9 Rise of Skywalker: The new teaser is long on emotion and history and short on new images, but they are interesting and impactful. I don’t really speculate on what might happen, but just take in the imagery and music and think it will be interesting to see how it all unfolds.
The Mandalorian: The new trailer shows a rough post-RotJ era of the galaxy. It’s too bad that the debut of the series is only a few days before Midwest Gamefest, otherwise I would certainly have a Mandalorian inspired adventure ready to go by then. This is solid Edge of the Empire material.
Star Wars Resistance: Another new trailer, and a rather wide ranging one at that. It took me a while to get into the first series, and basically ended up binging it before the finale. I think the second season will tie into the galaxy in a bigger way, if nothing else because they will be moving around often, it appears. It is also interesting that this is planned to be the last season. Perhaps because it seems it will finish before Rise of Skywalker is released.
Disneyland’s Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge: The park’s storyline gets a big boost with book releases and more promotions of the park itself.
The Halcyon: In a new announcement, Disney World gets its own starliner, an immersive 2-day experience that I totally plan to visit…eventually. No opening date was announced. As an RPG writer, and an occasional LARP event creator, how could I not visit this?
